The "Gurna Passerella" Waterfalls

Near the town of Francavilla di Sicilia, where the Alcantara River Park Authority has its head office, there is one of the most beautiful places in the whole river area, which is characterized by a series of natural small lakes which were shaped in the basalt by the river erosion and are called "Gurne". The Park also realized a nature trail which allows hikers to visit some of the Gurne: the most important one is the so-called Gurna della Passerella (meaning Gurna of the Footbridge). It was called like this because it could be seen from up high thanks to a metal footbridge built above the river by Enel. Two 5-meter-high waterfalls flow into this Gurna, and this is their sound.
