Francavilla di Sicilia (ME)

The Monastery of the Friars Minor Capuchin
The Monastery of the Frairs Minor Capuchin was built in 1570 in Francavilla di Sicilia. Within the Monastery it is possible to visit the Ruffo Family's Chapel, the sacristies, the Church and its objects of art, the museum on Franciscan testimonies. Nowadays, where the ancient refectory was situated, there is a small Ethno-Anthropological museum. On the outside, in the courtyard there is a herbarium of local medicinal herbs, whose development has been strongly supported by Alcantara river Park. The Monastery is open for not-planned tourist visits from 11.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and from 3.30 p.m. to sunset.
Planned visits are from 8.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.

Natural History Museum
The Natural History City Museum was established in Giardini Naxos in 2001. It extends on a large surface for 340 square meters. In the Museum there are finds coming from all over the world, such as mineralogical, paleontological and malacological collections, with a beautiful collection of ambers and one of marine organisms from the sea bottom of the Strait of Messina. Furthermore, there is a section dedicated to the ecosystems of the river Alcantara, one of the most important Parks in the island.

The Archaeological Museum and the Sicilian puppets Museum are considered as one Museum.

Prices:
For groups consisting of 15 people at least: €2,00 per person to visit one museum, €3,00 per person to visit both museums.
Senior people groups: €2,00 per person to visit one museum, €2,60 per person to visit both museums.
