Gastronomy and Local Products
From the anchovies, sardines, and mackerels from Giardini
Naxos and Taormina, to the delicious vegetables of the
Valley, to the King Bolete and the King Oyster Mushroom
from Etna. The fanciful preserves, the rice arancini,
the homemade pasta. Pasta with wild fennels or with drenched
broccoli, spaghetti with asparagus and tomato sauce,
but above all pasta with broad bean soup and wild fennel.
Many homemade maccheroni, artichoke à la villanella, “Stocco
alla ghiotta messinese”, and cabbage cooked with
wine and vinegar. And, of course, confectionery: cannoli
filled with ricotta cheese, almond fruit and pastries,
delicious lemon and red orange icecreams (here pigmented – elected
area). The sweet wines of the Volcano: white, velvety,
rosé, and full-bodied wines.
